AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 3:15 ¶ Brothers and sisters, I speak in terms of human relations: even though a last will and testament is just a human covenant, yet when it has been signed and made legally binding, no one sets it aside or adds to it [modifying it in some way]. |
Bible Question:
Can someone please give me a point for point basis on what new covenantals and covenantals believe? I don't need a comparison, I just need to know what they believe. slainte |
Bible Answer: Dear Ronnie...Welcome to the Forum:).... Here may be a start. These few verses kind of sum up the different beliefs I think you mean. Of couse there is a lot more said in the Bible, but I hope this helps. GAL 3:15 "Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.(Paul here is talking about a contract between two people. If you do this I will do that) 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise." The older covenant depends on the Law. The newer covenant depends on Grace. One is the Law while the other is a promise. Paul is addressing his opponents who were not ready to admit that Abraham was justified by faith in God's promise. Paul has just said earlier.... Gal 3:2 "I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?" We are free from the Law and it serves only to show us we are hopeless sinners in need of a Savior. Our new covenant promise of salvation is because of our faith in Jesus. God Bless....Jensen |
