AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 3:11 Now it is clear that no one is justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing] before God by the Law, for "THE RIGHTEOUS (the just, the upright) SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." [Hab 2:4] |
Bible Question:
in the book of habakkuk 2-verse2-1 does that mean to write a vison about church. |
Bible Answer: Hi lady hill, MacArthur's Study Bible note for Habakkuk 2:1 says: 2:2,3 Write the vision. Habakkuk was to record the vision to preserve it for posterity, so that all who read it would know of the certainty of its fulfillment (cf. similar language in Dan.12:4,9). The prophecy had lasting relevance and thus had to be preserved. Although a period of time would occur before its fulfillment, all were to know that it would occur at God's "appointed time" (cf. Is. 13: Jer. 50,51) Babylon would fall to the Medo-Persian kingdom of Cyrus ca. 539 B.C. (cf. Dan.5). I hope that will be of help. I am not much into history. But looking at some of the words in the passage I came up with what I would say is a good vision for the church. A chain-reference Bible led me from the "when I am reproved" of Habakkuk 2:1 to the "reproaches" of Romans 15:3. Here is a vision for the church. Romans 15:1-7, "Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. 3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, 'The reproaches of those who reproached Thee fell upon Me.' 4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus; that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God." From the heart, Ray |
