Subject: The Freedom of the Christian |
Bible Note: Where is our freedom? Is it really that we have no lord over us or is it because we have the Lord over us? 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NASB) 1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, We are to be in submission and many writers of old forgot this, they refused to submit to the authority God had placed over them and rebelled, often to their misfortune and brought disaster to the unity of Christ. Also we do not serve below us, we may feel that service is beneath us but when we serve we actually go above us, beyond what flesh desires as we push toward the mark the high calling of God. Again many forget the reason for service, 1 Corinthians 6:20 (NASB) 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. Jesus served man which in fact was beneath Him but we being servants of Christ are to serve our fellow man which requires us to go above and beyond our nature. |
