Subject: Suicide: a question on sin |
Bible Note: Hi Betsy, I've been reading this thread, and would like to chime in. I think that the original questioner stated that the intention was to die of the cancer, and that was the reason for refusing treatment, all treatment. Cancer generally is a symptom of not treating your body right, and, as many others have posted, we are to treat our bodies as a stewardship, so if we can promote our health, we should. But I will also say that doctors often prescribe treatments for diseases, including cancers, that do not actually treat the disease, are an incorrect treatment, and may actually prevent a person from correctly treating their disease, as they think that they are now ok. God knows what the doctors don't. God loves you, and the medical industry loves money. I do not recommend the caveliar disregard of a doctor's advice, but I strongly recommend much prayer, and independent research before embarking on an extreme form of treatment, especially chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation. Since this is a Bible Study Forum, and not a Sickness Study forum, I will end here, only to add that you may email me directly if you wish to continue this discussion with me (to whomever :-) ). I just wished to say that intending to die, self-murder, is wrong according to the Bible. Refusing a certian treatment, if done in good faith, is not. Love in Christ, Mark |
