AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? |
Bible Question:
1 Cor 6:19 : ..... "your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit....". My question is: Is it possible that the word " body" was erroneously translated? My reason is :1. Genesis 2:7 says Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. How can God Holy Spirit dwell in the dust. 2. "Soma" the original word can be "body" or "substance". Could it be the substance of man is the breath of life from God. If so, it could then be the Holy Spirit dwells in the Breath of God in man. The temple of the Holy Spirit is the Breath of God not the body? God bless Ngop |
Bible Answer: Ngop, In the context of your question, you might also ask how did God dwell in the Temple of Jerusalem? God , who is spirit exists whether dwelling in the Temple or in the flesh of Jesus. We on the other hand are by nature phsyical and spiritual and God breathed His Spirit into man. (See Genesis and the Gospel of John on the evening of the resurrection and also Pentecost in Acts)This is why the final fulfillment of our salvation is the resurrection of the body. I hope this helps some. Emmaus |
