Subject: Clarification of 1 Cor 14:34 verse |
Bible Note: The context of the chapter is those speaking in a tongue. The instructions say there is not to be confusion and that is what they have because there is not an interpreter of the ones speaking in tongues. Also they are not all to speak in tongues at one time as is prevalent in some churches today. Men are also told to keep silent if there is no interpreter. The subject is speaking in tongues. When Paul instructs people not to do certain things the opposite of the instruction may be going on for there to be a need for the instruction. Confusion can be caused by both men and women so I believe one application is for there to be order and a spiirit of learning and worship when one goes into the house of the Lord by being slow to speak and quick to hear. |
