NASB | 1 Corinthians 13:3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:3 If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all. |
Bible Question: In 1Cor 13:13 the bible says the greatest of these is love yet in Heb 11:6 without faith it is hard to please the Lord. Why is love greater than faith? |
Bible Answer: Hi Aminat: Good question; and beautifully answered Jonp, anything "I" could add would be in its shadow. So, if I may, I'd like to just reiterate what I think Paul is saying about faith in the list of gifts in which he is speaking here in 1 cor. He says that "faith" amoung and including that list, will fade away, but "love" will remain. I think what he is saying here, is that when we see Jesus face to face what purpos will there be for faith. part of what fiath is, is the blievief in that which we cannot see. So, I think he is saying when we see our Lord in heaven we wont need faith. Will we? And so, "Love" will remain forever, the flower of our faith. God's peace stj |
