Bible Question:
Can someone please tell me what "the perfect", is as reffereed to in the verse bellow. 1 Cor 13:10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. Thank you. OldPilgrim. |
Bible Answer: You need to consider verse 9. It mentions that "our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect)." So, the thing that is "perfect" and "partial" is knowledge. Thus the more knowledge a person has, the more he can prophecy, the less knowledge, the less he can speak. 1 Corinthians 12:8 mentions one gift being "a word [or message] of knowledge." This is the incomplete or partial knowledge that "will be done away" in verse 8 and replaced with "perfect [knowledge]." Since Paul wrote, we now have the complete Bible, a complete message.--Compare Daniel 12:4. |
