Bible Note: Makarios: It is also my understanding that a great movement of that time in Corinth, was of women shaving thier heads to make a statement that they were rebelling against the authority of men. This being the case, New Born female believers, that were followers of Jesus Christ, were appearing to be in agreement with the women that were going against the teachings of church of God(1Corinthians 1:2 not a denominational statement). Thus verse 5 in 1Corinthians 11 "But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven." This along with the fact of verse 7. For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. The woman being the glory of the man, and the women of that day shaving there heads in rebelion against man, was sending a confusing message to the New Believers. God Bless |
