NASB | Romans 8:9 ¶ However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 8:9 ¶ However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you]. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God]. [Rom 8:14] |
Subject: How is Holy Spirit imbued? |
Bible Note: I don't think i made the original comment about the laying on of hands that you are referring to. I did say that Paul told Timothy not to be hasty in the laying on of hands. Why? Only God knows our hearts and minds. However, let's see what the Scriptures say about Saul/Paul's conversion: Ac 9:7. And Ananias departed and entered into the house and laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way which thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." [Remember that Jesus Christ sends true Christians as His Father sent Him, Jn 20.] Ac 22:14. And he (Ananias) said (to Saul/Paul), "The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear a Voice from His Mouth. 15. For thou shalt be a witness for Him unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16. And now why tarriest thou? Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on His Name!" [Does this reference to the Righteous One have anything to do with Mt 6:33? Yes, it does. Read Jn 10 and Rev 1 about His Voice. How does "calling on His Name" wash sins away? Is this the baptism Saul/Paul experienced? Yes, it is. He called on the Name of the Lord as the 3000 of Ac 2 did. Ac 26:15. And I said, "Who art thou, Lord?" And the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. [Now, why would Jesus Christ say that Saul/Paul was persecuting Him?!] 16. But arise and stand upon thy feet, for to this end have I appeared unto thee, to appoint thee a minister and a witness both of the things wherein thou hast seen me and of the things wherein I will appear unto thee, 17. delivering thee from the people and from the Gentiles, unto whom I send thee, 18. to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to Light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me. [Sanctified by faith in the real Jesus Christ who is the Lord of Heaven and Earth, not by being washed with some dirty physical water! And, as Paul followed the example of Jesus Christ, so he told us to follow his example. Turning people to God's Light has nothing to do with physical water either.] As for Lk 11-13, not only must we ask, we must seek and knock. Is the seek the "seek first" in Mt 6:33? Yes, it is. Is the knock about that Scripture for the loaves of bread? What kind of bread must we work for according to Jesus Christ's Teaching in Jn 6? I'm not asking these questions because i do not know the answers, anne |
