NASB | Romans 8:13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 8:13 for if you are living according to the [impulses of the] flesh, you are going to die. But if [you are living] by the [power of the Holy] Spirit you are habitually putting to death the sinful deeds of the body, you will [really] live forever. |
Bible Question (short): Is the Holy Spirit a sin-enabler? |
Question (full): For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, (Romans 8:13) Does Romans 8:13 apply only to unbelievers, atheists, devil worshippers or are Christians accountable to their actions in the sinful nature? Are there minor transgressions that do not violate the premise of this verse: if you live in sin you will die? Are “white lies,” masturbation, homosexuality, adultery, planned abortion, “victimless use of drugs,” wife abuse or “sinning just a little as a preventive measure” the exception to the rule? God Bless! Angel |
