NASB | Romans 7:13 ¶ Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:13 ¶ Did that which is good [the Law], then become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, in order that it might be revealed as sin, was producing death in me by [using] this good thing [as a weapon], so that through the commandment sin would become exceedingly sinful. |
Bible Question (short): Thank you! Just need to understand littl |
Question (full): Thank you very much. Your note helped me to understand this passage more clearly. I still have a couple of questions, I understand how the law causes us to know what sin is. I don't really understand how sin appropriates the law. I also still don't understand the part of the scripture that says "by effecting my death through that which is good". I'm sorry to be so insistant on understanding these phrases but, I've been studying Romans for a couple months now. It's the first book I've studied and I keep in mind 2 Timothy 3:16 when it says that "all scripture is inspired by God" so I try to understand as much of it as I can. Thank you! |
