Subject: Baptized into his death |
Bible Note: Hi BradK Here is the answer (NO) I did not imply any such thing. I do not believe we need to be baptized to be saved, my personal belief is, Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; I would suggest that if you have a problem with what PETER has written where it sounds like he has contradicted himself, then you should do the foot work to settle the question for yourself. As far as I am concerned, the Bible DOES NOT Contradict itself at all, even IF we think it does, when we come to a point of contradiction, misunderstanding, or just plain old I don't know what it is saying, then God is saying to YOU, (STUDY !) The verse I believe you are referring to is 1 Pet 3:21. I have looked it up in the Amplified Bible. this translation gives a clearer wording of the verse. Hope this will clear things up for you. 21And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So as we now see we can use this verse, in support of water baptism, I for one, will make sure I use the Amplified Version, when doing so from now on. Have we all besides Pattii learned something out of all of this? Have a Happy ! ! |
