Bible Note: Yes: Works and law do not save us or justify us. Only the blood of Jesus did atone for past sins. But we are to live as Christ and Jesus "kept His father's commandments" We are instructed to "if we love Him keep His commandments" We keep the law out of love !! But we still keep them and are required to keep them. It is the evidence of a changed life. God said we will be known by our fruits. These fruits come fromthe basic law of God - to love Him and love our neighbor as we love Him. These laws were written in our heart as part of the new covenant. Justified means to be without blemish or sin. That is true once we repent - the challenge to us then is to "go and sin no more" as Jesus told the adulteress woman. Jesus said "anyone who says they love me (repent and confess) but do not keep my commandments is a liar" Cannot claim love for God and not obey. They go hand in hand. Bible says faith without works is dead. Merv |
