AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 4:17 (as it is written [in Scripture], "I HAVE MADE YOU A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS") in the sight of Him in whom he believed, that is, God who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. [Gen 17:5] |
Bible Question: should i say i can call things into being which dont exist? |
Bible Answer: Hello RWC, Welcome to the Forum. Might I ask who's telling you to "practice" Rom. 4:17? Be careful about taking things out of their context- or ignoring it altogether. The verse must be read in context of the entire chapter- Abraham's justification by faith. The verse reads, "...even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist." (NASB) Read carefully, we note that it is GOD who give life and it is GOD who calls into being- nothing said about us. This is not a prescription for us as believers to "practice". Faith is not a formula nor a power that we excercise. It is rooted in the object of the Lord Jesus Christ! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
