AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:25 whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus' crucifixion]. |
Bible Question: gracefull, yes thanks! your reply helped me alot, but i still have one lingering question. i understand that the blood of animal sacrafices cannot take away the sins of the people, however, does this mean that their sins just go unpunished? Does God not judge these people based on their "righteousness" or how they obey the commandments? or do they not get judged at all? thanks again. |
Bible Answer: I have to assume that the "their sins" in your question are non-beleivers. They will face the wrath of God because of their sin nature. As Paul says in Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [KJV] This is because we have a sinful nature inherited through the seed of Adam. When Adam sinned we were all contained in him. We are his seed or were his seed until we believe in Jesus. There is no one born who does not have inherited sin. For this reason God in His love for His creation offers His righteousness to any who will beleive on His Son Jesus Christ. Romans 3:21-23 21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. All have sinned and the gift of God is offered to all who beleive. No one can escape God's judgement of their sin EXCEPT by believing God through faith in Jesus. Believing that Jesus died for our sins and paid the penalty God had for us. We were Children of disobedience our father was the devil and we were enslaved to him through sin. BUT NOW Jesus, the Son of God has restored us to our position as sons and daughters of God and joint heirs with Jesus. So here is our conundrum. When a man works his reward it is not a gift but wages for a debt. However, to us who have not done the work but believe that Jesus justified us, the ungodly, our faith is counted as RIGHTEOUSNESS. Without works, we have obtained it. When we did not deserve it God chose to get involved in our lives with His power and His might. God’s righteousness is available to all that believe. There is no one who is special, not even a Jew. No one has this right because he is somebody. When God looked upon Abraham and counted him as righteous he had not observed the ritual of circumcision, the ritual that Abraham performed to seal God’s covenant with him. Abraham became the father of all who believe God. Even those who are not descendants of Abraham. If you believe as Abraham did, you are his heir and are counted as righteous. |
