AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:25 whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus' crucifixion]. |
Bible Question: This verse states that "He [God] did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished..." (NIV) Does this mean that God let the sins of the people before Christ's death go unpunished? Didn't they have to sacrifice animals, plants, incense, etc. to atone for their sins? If not, then what sins is this verse talking about and why did they go unpunished? |
Bible Answer: In simple form... Hebrews 10:4 "because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins." Luke 16 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:" Until Christ, there was no true redeption available to man..only the faithful 'looking forward' Hebrews 11:13 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Does this help? God bless |
