NASB | Romans 2:13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 2:13 For it is not those who merely hear the Law [as it is read aloud] who are just or righteous before God, but it is those who [actually] obey the Law who will be justified [pronounced free of the guilt of sin and declared acceptable to Him]. |
Bible Question: I have a question about Justification. We are justified by faith right so why does James 2:24 say that, "You see that a person is justified by faith what he does and not by faith alone." |
Bible Answer: Greetings Elijahprophet If I believe it is not going to rain, I have faith that it is not going to rain, but if I take an umbrella when I go out, my works do not support my belief? So did I really have faith? If I am justified by faith, and yet walk, act, as if I am a sinner do I have faith that I am justified (just as if I never sinned or just as if sin never was,[I prefer the latter])? If my actions, my words, my work reflects my belief that I am justified through faith in Jesus, then it is true. But if my actions, my walk, my work reflect that I am carrying an umbrella then I really don't believe. If you believe what you read in scripture then your life will reflect the word. You will be the living word. Boy, I bet that sentence gets me in trouble. James is telling us that it is how we live, how we work, our performance that shows our faith. Rom. 2:13 (NASB) 13for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. Rom. 3:21 through Rom. 3:26 (NASB) 21But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Jesus has fulfilled the Law. Through faith in Him we have become the righteousness of God. All that God has said before has become manifested, made known, made apparent, shown openly in you, us who believe. If you really believe what God has said, then you will live like it. WORKS. I hope that this has helped you. your brother Asis |
