Bible Question:
Isn't there a verse that talks about it being wrong to withhold a compliment from someone? I'm pretty sure I have heard this before but can't find it or think of a reference. |
Bible Answer: Maybe you are thinking of giving honor to whom honor is due. You are not to withold payment to a neighbor or hold onto a garment a poor person may sleep in as a pledge. Rom 13:7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Prov 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it. Prov 3:28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it," When you have it with you. You will find giving compliments may be considered negatively if you look for verses with words like 'smooth', 'flatter' or 'tickle'. |
