Bible Question: Has anybody read J.Edwards"Sinners in the hands of an angry God"? I think this is the most interesting and powerful sermon I've ever read. He's a little hard to get into but it's worth it, especially this sermon.I carry it in my Bible and once and a while I take itout and read it to refresh my memory about how thankful I am to be saved! |
Bible Answer: Good call, J.B.! Jonathan Edwards was not only one of the best preachers ever produced; he was also one of the greatest intellectuals in the history of the New World. Despite the bad rap that the world (and the wishy-washy evanglical church of today) has given the Puritans, you really have a hard time going wrong with such powerful, God-centered, Christ-exalting preaching. I am honored to be part of a congregation that follows the theology of Puritanism. Want more good reading? Try tracking down Edwards' "The End For Which God Created the World." --Joe! |
