In Heb.13:17 it says. Obey your leaders and submit to them. Who are these leaders, and should we blindly submit to them? What is our responsibility in the cases where there are clear abuses of power. The Hebrew passage appears to be talking to the Church and Church leadership. Jesus clearly stated in Matthew 22:21, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.” In the USA it would include but not be limited to Pastors, Policemen and the President. What is our responsibility in the cases where there are clear abuses of power? The Romans government clearly abused their power in the later part of the Empire, but Christians obeyed to the death as long as it did not contradict Scriptures. When there was a difference between Scripture and Law, Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered and said, "We must obey God rather than men.
