Subject: Why was there fear here? |
Bible Note: Greetings again - while I understand and share your angst over this manifestation of the heart, why are we not seeking to dig out the root of the problem - addressing the "false beliefs" that rule our thoughts, emotions and actions? The one who promises to do something and then doesn't follow through has a deeper issue - how about the fear of failure? When folks say things to make themselve look spiritual, are they not in reality afraid of rejection - are they not seeking the approval of men rather than God? Dr. Axien, imo THIS is what needs to be addressed! God desires truth in our innermost being (Ps 51:6) Isn't this the essence of "keeping our heart with all diligence!" As I see it, we all fall prey to the snares of the devil. But we need not be ignorant of his schemes . . . From God's Word, we can understand his agenda (Is 14:13-14; John 8:44)and learn how to escape his traps. We know that he is a dangerous but defeated foe. AND, God has graciously provided us with His armor (Eph 6:11)- some of us just forget to put it on at times I think! Others of us don't really understand who we are IN Christ . . . imo, this is the starting point - showing believers the truth according to God's Word which will enable them to recognize the lies they have believed about God, about themselves and about others. And encouraging them to replace these beliefs with who God says we are IN Christ - this is where change can occur! So often I criticize and "judge" others and respond to them in a hostile way. I fail to see them as God does - a treasured possession, completely forgiven and acceptable to Him. When I do see others from God's perspective, my response is one of compassion and unconditional love - for this is of God through me, something I can not muster up on my own. Truly we are blessed when we see God at work. Blessings, mommapbs |
