Bible Note: Sir Pent, "are the choices that Tom and Jerry make TRULY FREE?" Remember! Tom and Jerry are not disobediant children. I will not concede to you on that crucial point. They are wicked criminals who have been sentenced to death. Their creator has left to them the freedom (liberty) to choose life. But, due to the inescapable witness of Scripture we know that the heart of fallen man (his desire) is to do evil continuously. Therfore he is unable because of the sentence of death that abides upon him already. The sin of Adam has been imputed to mankind. and the effects of that sin are manifested in his heart. It has become as hard as stone. God owes neither man anything but eternal judgement. Therefore, if He chooses to show mercy to one and justice to the other, we will praise Him for displaying to us both aspects of His nature. As we ponder this mystery we must ever bear in mind the tremendous price God paid to justify the guilty. His Perfect Plan was perfected in the blood of God Himself. This aspect of the suffering of the parent is missing from your analogy. Without it the parent is viewed as cold as ice. John |
