AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 22:3 ¶ "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strictness of the law of our fathers, being ardent and passionate for God just as all of you are today. |
Bible Question:
Acts: What was the role of Gamaliel? |
Bible Answer: Paul was giving account of himself here to the chief captain, that it may be understood that Paul was not a danger to the Jews, nor was he of Egyptian origins, but he was in fact brought up in Jerusalem, the principal seat of the Jewish learning, and at the feet of Gamaliel, whom they all knew to be an eminent doctor of the Jewish law. This is not to be confused with the OT Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, in Num 1:10 and 2:20, and others. God Bless, Tim |
