Subject: Speaking in Tongue |
Bible Note: Yet many places in Acts it stated they recieved the Holy Ghost and they spake in other tongues and prophesied. Acts 19:6, Acts 8:17 Interestingly in Acts 2:37-38 it states: "Now when they ( the unsaved multitude who gathered as a result of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and to whom Peter had preached quoting Joel's prophecy ) heard this, they wer pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and bretheren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and he baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remisssion of sins, and ye shall recied the gift of the Holy Spirit. So acording to scripture it is not exclusive it is a matter of recieving the gift he wants to give to you. Paul also states in Romans 8:26 ...the Holy Ghost maeketh intercession for us in groanings that cannot be uttered in articulate speech. This it reference to the prayer language. Paul also state in 1 cornithians 14:18 "I thank My God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:" He follows up with some rules regarding the speaking of tongues in the congregation. I have witnessed many signs and wonders of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, tongues, just happens to be one. However I do feel the Holy Spirit who leads and guides me in all things saying this is a mute point. I was told by our Lord to leave it alone so I will in the name of Jesus. |
