Bible Note: Dear servant, This matter certainly falls within the realm of Rom. 14:1:-) You say there is rightly no scriptural support for a "prayer language", yet you state that it's "given it for those who have understood what we have recieved." Seems a little arrogant or exclusive? The context of the passage in 1 Cor. 14 is dealing with the superiority of prophecy. It starts out with an imperative..."Pursue love..." I fail to see the connection to prayer here. Scripture does not support self-edification! Paul is stating the opposite. Paul says: Thess 5:17- "pray without ceasing;" Col. 4:2- "Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;" Phil. 4:6- "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." These are just a few examples, but I don't see where Paul hints that there is some particular "prayer langauge" needed to do so? I believe God understands all dialects quite well- including English! Why would we need a special prayer languauge to communicate with Him? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
