Bible Question (short): Why is "let" removed from Acts 2:38? |
Question (full): I've had a question on my mind for some time now, and would appreciate a straight forward answer. Acts 2:38 in the NASB (pre-1996) reads; And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Updated Version reads; Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. My question is, for what reason or purpose did the Updated Version disclude "let" from this particular verse? Thanks for your consideration, Clydson |
