AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Question:
Well my question relates to Baptism, How old should you be before your baptised? Is a baby too young to be Baptised? |
Bible Answer: Biblical Baptism does not take into account how old you are. When you profess Jesus as Lord and Savior, out of obedience to His command, you are baptised. As a public declaration of faith indicating you have died to your old nature and now live for Christ. This baptism is done unto repentence and NOT unto salvation. Babies are "dedicated" unto the Lord, just as in biblical times. When the child reaches his/her age of accountability, they must decide whom they will follow and be baptised on their own decision.
