Bible Note: I think the problem is weather or not we need to do what God said. The Grace of God is simply his word to us, if we did not have instructions (THE BIBLE) WE would have no hope in this life. Do you remember Naaman, the king of Syria, with leprosy, 2Kings 5:1-14 let's look at verse 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of lsrael? may I not wash in them, and went away in a rage. 13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash and be clean? This came from the Lord God to the prophet, to tell Naaman what he must do to be clean. The same as what Jesus said to be save, it came from God. 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. What I learn from this is whatever God tells us to do and for whatever reason, we should do it. 1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in OBEYING THE VOICE OF THE LORD? Behold to OBEY IS BETTER than sacrifice, and to HEARKEN than the fat of rams. We learn here that faith only is not enough in God's sight. "The important baptism is the baptism of the holy spirit and being born of the Spirit. John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the *Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again' [or, from above]" Compare Titus 3:5" You miss verse 5 in John 3, you must be born of the water and the spirit to enter the kingdom of God! these are the words of Jesus, and they must be obeyed! When it come to the grace of God we fail to understand what grace is; John 1:16-17 Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word,(Grace) and the Word (Grace) was with God, and the Word (Grace) was God. 14 And the Word (Grace) was made flesh, and dwelt among us ( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. This is how I see it, the grace in Eph.2:8-9 is the word of the Lord God. Men interpret it as "unmerited favor". I think we should let the bible interpret it. |
