Bible Question:
The Sabbath mentioned in the bible is it only to be observed by Isreal as convanent between them and god. and did the sabbath had to be observed by the gentlies. |
Bible Answer: Sw40calus, No Lydia was not a Jewess. She was with Jews and Gentiles on the Sabbath. Acts 13:42ff also shows that the Gentiles were in the synagogue the Sabbath. There are other passages that they gathered on the first day of the week. Observing the Sabbath is more than gathering together. It is a holy day and not a holiday. It was a day of rest from all work and focusing the day on God. Whne we gather, we talk about children, careers, crime, Christmas presents ... and not Christ and the Father. Do I have to go to church on the Sabbath (Fri 6pm - Sat 6pm)? It may be opitional. There are some Arab countries that allow Christians to gather on Friday, else it is illegal. I think we should follow all the Ten Commandments and not set aside the fourth -- for any reason. These are my own thoughts. I have found "experts" to support my view ... and those who oppose it.
