Bible Question: Paul's missionary work created a controversy in the church. What was the nature of the Jew-Gentile controversy and how did the church handle it? |
Bible Answer: It pertained to some Jewish Christians insisting that new Gentile converts should observe the law. Especially was circumcision an issue. It was handled by sending Paul and others to the Jerusalem body of elders, where, after prayer and testimony from different ones, a decision was sent back. Acts chapter 15 describes that meeting and the decision they reached is spelled out. What is your purpose in asking as I perceive you knew the answer? |
