Bible Question:
I have a question about tithes and offerings. I DON'T want to get into a long drawn out debate about how tithes are not part of the New Testament. I personally feel led by the Lord to tithe and make offerings unto the Lord. The New Testament says: "God loves a cheerful giver" I enjoy giving cheerfully from the abundance the Lord has given me, of any time, talents, and tithes. My question is: What is the difference between a tithe and an offering? I tithe 10 per-cent of my after tax with-holding net amount, but feel the desire to give beyond the 10 percent. I think anything beyond the 10 per-cent (which rightfully belongs to the Lord anyhow) is an offering. And of course I also believe it's ALL His anyways. He has just given me stewardship over all He has graciously blessed me with. So is the offering anything I give over the first 10 per-cent? |
Bible Answer: New Creature- My suggestion- Ten percent of pre-tax amount. Anything else is an offering. As you said, anything we have is from the Lord. So don't forget to tithe your talents and time also (or maybe just make them an offering, also! - Either way, you know the Lord will bless you for it.). Blessings to you- Debbie |
