What you say is right: The members of a given denomination are expected to fashion their beliefs along the lines of, and in accordance with, the creed or statement of faith of the denomination. The truly salient question that perks up my ears is, "Does the creed or faith statement reflect Bible doctrine?" You may counter, "But that's a subjective question." On minor issues I might be led to agree, it is subjective. On major ones, the deity of Christ for example, there is no real subjectivity. If Christ is not deity, then Christianity is a lie. --Hank |
