Subject: Do you yet say that Jesus was just a man |
Bible Note: The Man Christ Jesus Part 2 In Philippians 2 we consider his eternal existence and equality with his father and his lowly stoop with his incarnation. “Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery (or not a thing to be grasped at) to be equal with God: But he made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death even the death of the cross” (v5-8) God again by his Spirit is showing us that Christ was with God, equal and coeternal and that he set that glory aside and took the lowly stoop via the virgins womb and walked this scene in perfect harmony with his father, proving time and time again who he was and willing allowed his journey to lead to the cross where he gave his life for us. “he said I have the power to lay down my life and I have power to take it up again” On the cross he cried “Finished” the conquers cry, and he said “Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit” then he bowed his head and died. Even in his death we are made to realize this was no ordinary man, this was God manifest in the flesh. Paul writing to the Colossians “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col.2:9) The important truth that Paul is teaching is that the Lord Jesus never ceased to be what he always was, by that which he became. When Jesus was on earth we read in Mark 2 how the Pharisees in their derision confirmed that Jesus is God. “Why doth this man speak blasphemies: Who can forgive sins but God. The spoke the truth, but did not know that it was God whom they were dealing with when Jesus to the paralyzed man “Son thy sins be forgiven thee” and than said “ that ye might know the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins” v10 we find he healed the man. Time and time again Jesus refers to himself as the son of man which is equivalent to God in the flesh. Is it not wonderful that God shares with us his eternal counsel we read such prophetic words in Isaiah 6; 8 “the Lord saying whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I ; Here am I; send me” In Psalm 40:7 and in Hebrews 10:9 we read the words of the Lord Jesus “Lo I come in the volume of the book which is written of me, to do thy will O God.” For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten (unique) Son , that whosoever, believeth on him , should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 May those who have trusted him always value him for who he is: God manifest in the flesh. Robert If we could only tell him as we know him! |
