Bible Question (short): 8 words of Deity in John 6:61-63: yes? |
Question (full): Hi Tim, I envy you your knowledge of the languages and of English grammar. You are right of course about the number of pronouns; and I believe that there is the number seven of "He said" that is inferred depending on the phrasing in translation. What I "count" are the pronouns of Deity along with the nouns of Deity. So personally I count (with the "He said") four words (nouns and pronouns) that refer to Deity for verse 61. 1) Can you offer any suggestion of why the NASB chose not to include "in Himself" in their translation? 2) After the Son of Man ascends from where He was before, "who" or "what" gives life? The flesh profits nothing. Is it the Spirit or the spirit that gives life? 3) Is Jesus the Bread or the bread of life? How can this (m)Man give us His flesh to eat? From the heart, Ray |
