Subject: Are you being put to the test? |
Bible Note: Hi Searcher56, The test then is for the student's benefit to show the student his strengths and weaknesses. Jesus wasn't asking for help was He, for the question was asked for a test of Philip. I think that the bottom line is that Jesus is a good Teacher. As Jesus says in John 6:45, "It is written in the prophets; 'AND THEY SHALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.'/ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 Not that any man has seen the (Father)..." John 13:13, "You call (Me) Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, the Lord and Teacher,/ washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet." Though the (Son) is not the (Father), they are both one Teacher/. They both spoke the word of (God). The word of God, the Scriptures, in John 6:6, 2 Cor 13:5, and Rev 2:2 have the word "test" in them. I believe that a "word study" is a good thing even if the verses do not seem to be related to each other. Here in Revelation 2:1, I see it talking about the (One) who walks among the seven golden lampstands, who says this...verse 7, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit/ says to the churches." A word study of "walk" would reveal many verses of walking in (Him). For instance, Colossians 2:6. I think that Philip was doing pretty well at this stage, and Jesus doesn't give him a grade that I know of (sometimes a test in school is enough without our knowing the averages). But we must constantly be testing ourselves, testing the spirits, so that we can build each other up so that we can be complete in Him. Colossians 1:28. From the heart, Ray |
