Bible Question:
One of the things that is a Christian's biggest challenge is proving that the bible is embedded in real history. That it really happen, but some of the stories seem so hard to believe or shall i say prove. I believe in the bible and I believe it is the word of GOD, I want to beable to support every aspect of it correctly or as best I can to any non-believer. For example, John 5 says "1Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. 2Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a] with five covered porches. 3Crowds of sick people--blind, lame, or paralyzed--lay on the porches.[b] 5One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?" How can some be lying there 38 years? That doesn't seem like reality. How can you explain that to someone? God Bless and thanks in advance for your comments. |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, Noveta, All it says is had been sick for 38 years ... he may have been lying there for a shorter time. Even if he was there for that long, he was there for when the water is stirred up (vs 7) ... and it is thought that when that happened the first one in was healed. Side note ... notice that Jesus healed only him and not others. S |
