Subject: The ways of life and truth? Acts 2:28 |
Bible Note: Hi lionheart, This word "Godly" is a challenge sometimes for translation and interpretation. I usually use a lower case "godly". The godly testimony that John the baptist gave was his witness to the truth. However, Jesus says in verse 34 that the witness that He receives is not from man. Verse 32, "There is Another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the testimony which He bears of Me is true." Notice the testimony that He bears. This "He" refers to the "Another". So I would go with the interpretation of the Amplified, see above, with its upper case Another. 1) Ezekiel 34:31, "As for you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, you are men, and **I am your *God," declares the Lord/God." This is the declaration of the Lord/God and the God/Man to my mind. John 5:18, "...making **Himself equal with *God." John 10:33, "...and because **You, being a *Man, make Yourself/ out to be God." John 5:38, Green's Literal Translation, "And you do not have His Word abiding in you, for (the One) whom that One sent, this One you do not believe." So to my mind, if we have **His word abiding in us and *Him [Green's (this One)] we believe. From the heart, Ray |
