Bible Note: Dear momma, It is good to see you on the forum again, ma'am. You asked, "What sin can we see in this passage? Could it be that he failed to give glory to God for his healing?" Possibly some of the suffering of the healed man had to do with how he lived before the 38-year affliction began. Nevertheless, in a way of thinking, all physical maladies arise from sin. As you pointed out, the Pharisees were more concerned with the external and visible things. However, John is careful to point out that "Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man." (John 2:24-25 NASB) Therefore, our Savior, knowing the particulars of this man's life, gives him an explicit command that must have hit home deeply for him (Hebrews 12:5-8).
