Bible Question: How can one be sure of his/her salvation? |
Bible Answer: Dear Kalos, In veiwing your question, I recalled a time when I had the same concerns. So I'd like to share this story with you. "How can I be sure of my salvation??" That was my question. I was hit with the definition of Faith. "Things hoped for but not seen". "That is how you know that you are saved, through faith." For me at that time that one didn't get it. Then I was given passages like Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" That one kinda helped alittle. For me, I became more assured of my salvation through my attitudes and actions. Salvation can not be earned through good works, but it was the Spirit within me that prompted me to do the things that I ordinarily would not have cared about. Like studying the bible, changing my attitude, and striving to develop the Christian Characteristics in Gal. 5:22. All these things combined with everything I was told aided me in the assurance of my salvation. God has an enemy, more powerful and craftier than man. If this enemy had his way, the children of God would be a memory and no one would even care about God or His expections. If you care about God and His expections, you have the same enemy, and believe it or not, that's a good thing. Something else someone told me when I asked that question, they said, "The simple fact that you asked that question shows that if you're not sure of your salvation, you will be soon, providing that you really are a Christian, and providing that you've asked God the same question." I sincerly hope that my testimony helps you The CurtMan |
