AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 2:10 and said to him, "Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now." |
Subject: Was the wine alcoholic or not |
Bible Note: You are correct, I should have quoted it in its entirety, but I don't think that it changes the point that I was making. Nor do I think that by omitting it I was in any way deceitful, or handling the Word of God falsely. However if I have please show me and I will learn. I believe that this is one example of a technique that God uses often in scriptures by following a point with a magnification or explanation. "Wherein is excess" points back to "drunk with wine" explaining that the excess is the problem not the drinking of the wine. This is one way that the Bible is the best commentary on the Bible. |
