AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 19:23 ¶ Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His outer clothes and made four parts, a part for each soldier, and also the tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven [in one piece] from the top throughout. [Matt 27:35; Mark 15:24; Luke 23:34] |
Bible Question:
EdB, Yes, we all are responsible for His death, and as you pointed out, we are saved by His death. Next question. If you were the one, and you were a follower of the Christ, and had to nail Him to the cross - would you, could you? You are not allowed to pass the hammer to another. So if you said no, what would become of your sins and mine? I am thinking deeply of the Roman soldier(s) who nailed Him to the cross ... and the centurion. I hope I get more response, even to my story about Julius. I do have one more question - I'll ask later. Steve |
Bible Answer: I can't help but wonder why it would have been necessary for a believer to nail Christ to the cross. Throughout the history of the world rarely has there been a time when there was a shortage of unbelievers. What I mean is surely the Atonement was never dependent upon a believer taking an active part in the execution of Christ. There is certainly no evidence of it in the Bible. I know this is a hypothetical question. But, as hypothetical questions go, this one is really weird. |
