Subject: Christ died on a stake and not a cross? |
Bible Note: Hi, Searcher. I speak to the question more than to your answer, which was terse and to the point and yet refreshingly adequate and complete. Which is the more important consideration: Whether we call it a cross or a stake or -- as I've heard it called -- a tree, on which Christ our Lord died, or whether we spread abroad the life-changing Good News that He did suffer and that He did die for the sins of the world; that the third day He rose from the dead; that He ascended into heaven; that He sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead? But thank you nontheless for your kindly attending to the user's question. My object is just to try to impress on all of us, new questioner and all users alike, how easy it is to focus on trivial detail in Scripture and thus possibly rob ourselves of time that could be used more productively by a keener focus on the monumental truths of which minute details form only a background aid in revealing God's eternal word to us. --Hank |
