NASB | John 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 18:36 Jesus replied, "My kingdom is not of this world [nor does it have its origin in this world]. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would be fighting [hard] to keep Me from being handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this world." |
Subject: Is war biblical? |
Bible Note: As I said before not everything that god commanded in the OT is still a guideline of what to do today. maybe you could just give one example of a just-war and I'm pretty sure I can contradict that. The thing is that there is simply no passage in the NT that I've found yet that deals with wars. Besides that there are plenty of scritptures in the NT that proclaim peace. Starting with Jesus being called the prince of peace going to his actions (healing a wounded soldier's ear who arrested him, his suffering without a sign of defense and so on. He never ever used force to punish any sinner. Isn't there a reason for the "what would Jesus do" idea?) |
