NASB | John 16:7 "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 16:7 "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor--Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. |
Bible Question: Did the Holy spirit leave the world when Christ said "Father into your hand I commit my spirit" Luke 23:46 leaving the Disciples as orphans John 14:18, until the day of Pentcost Acts 2:4? Or did Christ mean something else by the word commit? |
Bible Answer: No! It is His spirit that He comnmend to the Father Lu 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Holy Spirit and Christ is not the same person, so that ghost that he gave up is different from the Holy Spirit or the comforter. oh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you Joh 16:7 ΒΆ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
