Bible Question:
Does the Bible mention anything about unsaved people having unfillable voids in their lives? Or mention Jesus filling a void in our hearts? -Spencer, Brother in Christ |
Bible Answer: Hi Spencer, Your question reminded me of this passage: Is 55:1 "Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost. Is 55:2 "Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Jesus said much the same thing, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink." Some do have a hunger for something more, for a relationship with God, but not all do. The Bible tells us that some people's hearts are hard, and they have no interest in God. Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Some supress the truth. They see the truth, but choose to ignore it. 2 Thess 2:11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 2 Thess 2:12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. These will be people who, because they took pleasure in wickedness, will never believe the truth. That's not describing a person who has an "unfillable void". But in Isaiah 55, it talks about the food that doesn't satisfy. What the world offers will not satisfy, but not everyone chooses to understand that. Maybe the price of obedience is just too high. We are empty without Jesus, we have no life without Him. He that has the Son has life, he that has not the Son has not life. The Preacher, who said "emptiness all is emptiness", concluded with this: (Ecc 12:13) "The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person." I hope something in all of this rambling helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
