AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 14:30 "I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world (Satan) is coming. And he has no claim on Me [no power over Me nor anything that he can use against Me]; |
Bible Question:
I shall not talk with you any longer, becaus the prince of this world is on his way. He has no power over me, but the world must be brought to know that I love the Father and that I am doing exactly what the Father told me. John 14:30,31 I wonder why Jesus says here " He has no power over me" Thank you. |
Bible Answer: John 14:28-32 (The Message) The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson 28"You've heard me tell you, 'I'm going away, and I'm coming back.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I'm on my way to the Father because the Father is the goal and purpose of my life. 29-31"I've told you this ahead of time, before it happens, so that when it does happen, the confirmation will deepen your belief in me. I'll not be talking with you much more like this because the chief of this godless world is about to attack. But don't worry—he has nothing on me, no claim on me. But so the world might know how thoroughly I love the Father, I am carrying out my Father's instructions right down to the last detail. Why Jesus says this here is to maybe assure the discip;es that satan is fighting a losing battle. Because of our Lord's sinlessness, satan could have no hold on Him. Only over those who have yet to accept Him does satan have power over. Because of the love Jesus has for His Father, that love is what Jesus is wanting His disciples to grasp so they too will keep satan under their feet where he belongs. |
