Bible Question: My question pertains to this scripture: Romans 13:1-6, 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Is a believer a true believer if they make no attempt to pay their debts like 15 years of back taxes, school loans, gym membership contracts, cell phone and home phone contracts, hospital services and court judgements? They believe that past mistakes are all forgiven and prayer is the answer to fixing these debt collections |
Bible Answer: Timley: I know od different people in the churches I was pastor that could not pay debts. Some do to being laid off, lengthy sickness, disability, divorce, homes destroyed by natural causes, fire, flood, and the death of a mate, child, the reasons are endless. The saying you can't get blood from a turnip is very true. If a person happened to be a generous helper to those in need, at some point they will be taken advantage of. I heard last night that over 50 percent of all people in the USA have Medical debt, that they most likely will never be able to pay. Our Medical system is unaffordable for many poor families. In fact our middle class has sunk deeply in the last decade, and debt reliefe in the courts has become more difficult. But credit card companies seem willing to lend money at 30 percent or more. Pay day loans can charge 400 percent or more, and mostly it's the working poor that get taken in by these usury type of loans. Timley we live in times where the poor do in fact get poorer. If Christians really followed God's WORD their money problems would be very few. justme |
