AMPLIFIED 2015	John 14:13 "And I will do whatever you ask in My name [as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. [Ex 3:14]

Bible Question: In John 14:13-14 Jesus says "And I will do whatever you ask in my name.......You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it." And in John 15:7 He says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." NIV

I understand and believe that the Lord hears all our prayers, but answers them according to our best interests, not always what we "wish" for. So, these verses are confusing to me.

Now to answer your question. Jesus is not santa clause and we don't give Him our wish list. Jesus said to remain in Him. To remain in Him is to surrender to His will every day in every way. I know this is not an easy task to be in constant state of remaining in Him. We always should to be in the direct will of the Holy Father. So when we pray, even for someones life we need to pray, please put this person in your direct will. When asking the Lord for something specfic ask for whatever it is to be His direct will for your request. This leaves no doubt that we have recieved the very best from the Lord.

I have been very near going home to the Lord several times with health issues. All I ever have asked of those praying for me was to be in the direct will of the Father. I was so near going home that the celebration of me going home was all ready, encluding the songs to be sung and the place to plant my body. To the amazement of several doctors and Christian friends, and my family, the Lord wanted me to remain in Him here longer.

So I know what I am saying is truth, I sincerely hope this encourages you to surrender to His will.
