Bible Question: I have a question and I'm not quite sure if its appropriate to ask. I was watching the History channel last night and they had a special on Judas Iscariot. I've always had a question about the betrayal. In John 13, Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him. Judas did exactly what Jesus said one of his disciples was going to do. If Judas was born for that purpose to betray Jesus so he could die for us, does that mean that Judas went to heaven or hell because he fulfilled what had to be done for our salvation? Or am I thinking too hard about this situation? |
Bible Answer: myah- Yes, Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him. God knows everything WE are going to do or say before we say them, but He always gives us the choice. Just because He knows in advance what the answer to the choice will be does not negate the fact we have the free will to choose. Judas did and played the part that Satan wanted him to play (who put the questions and dissatifaction in his head?)and when he realized the effects of his betrayal, hanged himself. By the way, I read one time, I don't know where, that hanging can also mean impaling on a stake. If Judas hanged himself that way, he could be head down and his bowels would definitly fall out! Gross! But just a thought, wouldn't it be something if just before he died, he repented and acknowledged that Jesus was God and the Truth? Wouldn't it be something if he was in Heaven? Who knows?
